Balik Pulau Ride

Date: 27.Sept.2009
Route: Parkview --> Relau --> Sungai Ara --> Teluk Kumbar --> Bukit Genting --> Balik Pulau --> Jalan Tun Sardon --> Parkview
Distance: ~32km
Duration: ~2.5hrs (ride time: ~2hrs)
Riders: Woei Tong, Freddy

Meet up at Parkview 7am.
Started riding down Relau towards Sungai Ara and Woei Tong is already putting in the pace. I found myself training behind but decided not to give chase as I still have hills to climb. I'm riding about 25 km/h already and if I push faster I will be "punctured" very soon.

Woei Tong was waiting for me before the ascend of Bukit Genting and as I approached him, he remark "So fast sweating already".....Well, I was sweating profusely and I was surprised to see that he is not sweating......I guess that's the difference between a rider who rides everyday versus a weekend rider....hehehe....

We started the ascend and again he quickly pull away from me and I have to play catch up again....well, I never actually catch up until we reach Balik Pulau town where we decide to have breakfast. A bowl of Wantan noodles & a glass of herbal tea for me and Hokkien Mee and coffee for Woei Tong and we are off again.

We push out heading for the climb up Jalan Tun Sardon. This is my first time climbing Tun Sardon from Balik Pulau and ......its really is a struggle for me...
I have to stop twice to catch my breadth, rest my legs and a quick sip of water.....before I made it to the peak where Woei Tong has been waiting for me for 8mins.....
I was sure glad I made it to the peak as this means its all downhill from there.

After a quick sip of water, we decide to start the descend. Woei Tong chose to use the off road trail towards Cherry Blossom while I continue down Tun Sardon back to Parkview.
Reason why I did not follow Woei Tong is because I don't think I have any energy left to climb up from Relau back to Parkview. Although it was just a short climb, I'm already a spent force......really admire Woei Tong's stamina & strength.

Compared to all the riders in our group, I'm still far behind them. Need to put in more distance and climbs before I can catch up with them.
